Temple day Typhoon

August 29, 2016

Temple day with my two companions,
Elder Higashi and Elder Quetioz

 Me in the purple tie,
Elder Higashi is in the red tie,
Elder Quetioz is in the blue tie

For pday we went to Asakusa. It is a pretty cool shrine that is
huge!!! But  took some cool pictures of me and the shrine and some
awesome tag pictures. However half of the tag pictures turned out
blurry because of the rain and my unskillful talent. So I am just
sending the ones I think look cool!  When I go back again, I will
retake some good tag pictures.

I love JAPAN!

One handsome missionary!

Love tag pictures!

What a crazy week this past week has been.  First off, luckily the
Typhoon hasn't come back to full force yet, but it is actually suppose
to come back today.  Why is it always on P-Day?  But right now it is
okay, let's hope it stays that way.  Because if it gets too windy then
they close down the trains and if they close down the trains then I am
stuck in Tokyo and can't get back to Narita!  So hopefully everything
goes well today! Haha
I also have some sad news.  My wonderful Companion Elder Porter had to
go home this past week because of some health problems, so I am now
back in a trio.  Fun fact, I have had five companions this past
transfer.  Usually a missionary only has one per transfer, I guess I
am just lucky to have five! But it was sad to see Elder Porter leave.
He was a great missionary and we worked so well with each other.  He
will be greatly missed.  I never had as much fun on my mission then
when I was with him.  He is a great missionary and an even better
friend to me.  I love that guy.  My new companions are Elder Higashi
and Elder Quetoz.  Elder Higashi is from a city near Tokyo called
Yokohama and Elder Quetoz is from Brazil.  So I have now had
companions from all over the world.  I have had them from America,
Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and now Brazil.  All I need is a
Russian, European, and an African and I have pretty much been through
out the whole world! Haha But I love these Elders and they are such a
blessing to my life.  Especially Elder Higashi, he helps me with my
Japanese and he is just a fun guy to be around.  I love him so much.
Some fun things that happened this week was our investigator named
Oami passed his baptism interview!  So we will be having another
Baptism next Sunday!  I am so excited.  Oami is such a cool guy.  He
is 63 but he has a heart of gold.  He is so kind and so spiritual.
When I teach lessons to him I feel the spirit so strong with him.  He
is just one of the nicest guys I have ever met on my mission and he is
so sweet.  I love him and I am overly ecstatic for his  baptism this
Sunday.
Another fun thing that happened was an investigator that Elder Porter
and I found finally was able to meet this week.  His name is Rogers
and he is from Uganda.  He is also a way nice guy.  But we taught him
the restoration this week and his biggest concern was he wanted to
know what church was the true church on the earth.  We taught the
restoration and he said, "I want to read the Book of Mormon". "All I
got to do is Read the Book of Mormon".  It was so cool to see how much
interest he has in the church and his real desire to find out which
church is the true church.  We then asked him if he would be baptized
when he comes to know the Book of Mormon is true.  He said, of course!
So we are on the road to baptism with him as well.  He is doing great
and he emails me everyday and talks to me a bit about how he is doing.
He is such an awesome guy and he is excited to learn more.  I am so
excited to teach Rogers the Plan of Salvation this week and I am even
more excited to see him come to church.  I hope everything goes okay
with him and I hope that we can continue to meet through out the week.
School is starting back up this week so it is going to be a bit hard
to meet because he also has work.  However, with God anything is
possible.  All it takes is a little faith! :)
Narita is simply an amazing place.  I love being here and the members
are so nice and the people here are ready to receive the Gospel.  I
have a feeling that next transfer I might be training.  Mainly because
Elder Higashi is going home at the end of this transfer and because I
don't have a companion right now.  There is also 21 new Elders coming
into the field this transfer so the probability of me training is
pretty high.  At the end of this transfer will mark my 1 year mark of
being in Japan!  I can't believe how fast time has flown by!  It feels
just like yesterday I was getting off the plane and meeting president
Nagano at the airport!  Life is just so fast and crazy! But I love it!
:)
Thank you to everyone who sends me emails and shows their love and
support to me.  Even in the business of your everyday lives you spare
some time to email me,  your emails are very appreciated and they help
me a lot.  I hope you all will go and check out my blog this week.  My
mom recently uploaded my baptism pictures and other pictures that have
been taken within the past couple of weeks.  I hope you go look at
them and enjoy them.  I love you all so much and I love hearing from
you!  Take care and I will talk to you again next week! :)

Typhoon Weather

August 22, 2016

My Zone!

Saporo Temple.  I am going there someday!

Hello everyone!
Japan is currently in a typhoon and it is the

windiest it has ever been in my life!  I am fine and everything is
going well in Narita, but boy I hope my apartment doesn't fly away
anytime soon! Haha But really Japan is going through a crazy typhoon
right now and there is like no one on the streets.  Actually fun fact,
I was walking on the street this morning to go to the church and the
wind was so strong it blew my companion and I across the road.  Good
thing the light was green and we could run across but man was that
crazy!  I will have to send out a video or something of how crazy this
wind is!  I love it though, this is a once in a life time opportunity
for me! :)
As for how this week went, it was actually really hot and there was a
lot of time just talking to people.  We spent so many hours on the
pavement talking to people and spreading the good word.  By the end of
the week we talked to about 300 people!  Crazy right?  But I love it!
We also found about 4 new investigators and they all seem way excited
to meet and learn more.  So we might be getting some more lessons in
this week!  I am so pumped and excited.  My favorite part about my
apartment is being with elder Higashi.  He is a Japanese missionary
and he is so funny.  I love his English and I love talking to him in
Japanese.  He is hilliarisou and defiantly one of my best friends on
my mission.  I also love with all my heart Elder Porter.  He is great
and I feel like we are brothers.  He is so much fun to be with and I
love working with him.  He is a boss missionary and a way hard worker.
But as for this week one pretty awesome thing happened this week!  The
wonderful, beautiful Saporo temple was dedicated by President Nelson.
It was amazing to go to all three sessions and hear the general
authorities talk.  Elder Whiting, who is the area president talked in
Japanese.  I don't know if you all remember him but he gave a prayer
in general conference last October and he was the General Authority I
met back when I was a transfer one.  It was way cool to hear from him.
Also President Nelson gave a talk and someone translated for him.  It
was good to hear from him.  But my favorite part was to hear from
Elder Stevens of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.  For those of you
who don't know, he served his mission in Japan, was a mission
president in Japan, and was the area president for Japan.  So his
Japanese is very good and it was amazing to hear him give a talk in
Japanese.  I loved every part of the ceremony and I felt the spirt so
much.  I think I was able to understand about 75% of it all, so that
was pretty good and it reminds me that my Japanese is getting better
as the days go on.  The talks were good, the dedication was great, and
the spirit was unforgettable.  I love serving in Japan! :)
This week was amazing and I feel like when I go out and do finding
with my companion, I am doing it with my best friend.  I feel like
most the time we are laughing at ourselves or we are laughing at
something funny or stupid that happened.  I just love working with
Elder Porter. Every time we go out and do finding our faces hurt
because we are smiling and laughing too much.  It is the best feeling
in the world.  I love Japan, I love Narita, I love Elder Porter, and I
love this work.  Thank you all for your wonderful love and support you
always give me!  I hope to hear from some of you soon.  I love you and
I will talk to you next week! If you have any questions for me, send
them my way and I will answer them for you!  Love you!!!! :)

Good-bye Mito.

August 15, 2016

Let the service project begin.
This is the yard we pulled all the weeds.
That thing I am in is
suppose to be a garden.

Service project.  Look at this huge stack of weeds.Remember this is only 1/4 of the garden.
I can't believe I did the whole thing!
We only made a dent in the weeds

I did everything to the right of me...
  It was so much fun!
I lovebservice so much, it reminds me of scouting!

Happy missionaries!
Elder King, Elder Unsworth, Elder Ishikawa
This is the missionaries who went and helped.
 My district pretty much.

Me, Elder Ishikawa, Sister Parker, Sister Madison, Elder King
Fun fact, Sister Parker, the one with glasses is from West Valley
Utah! She went to Granger and knows Karlee, but she didn't go to
Robert Frost.  Such a small world!

We went out and got all you can eat Indo curry for my farewell dinner.

This family took me out to dinner to say hello to me and goodbye tome.
 They are so kind!
This was our investigator.
He wanted to talk with the bishop to become
a better person.
 His name is Hashimoto.
I wish I could have gotten to
know him more.

Fun at the matsuri with Elder King!!!
This parade was going all day long.

Mito Church
Another view.
This is brother Tsuru.

This is brother Tsuru.
He bought me ice cream because I was leaving
Mito.
I love is man so much.
He is hilarious and my favorite member
in Mito.

This is the big Ice cream I got!

This was my Ward mission leader.
His name is Kohei.
He was happy to
see me because he didn't know I was transferring.
Everyone was shocked
about it!

 BAPTISM!!!

Brother Masuda, me, and Tatsuya
I love these two so much.
They are my best friends in Matusdo.
 Best
friends dressed in white!

Tatsuya and I
Brother Masuda and I
My best friend in the mission! :)
He is the one I Facebook chat with.

This is the group.
So I found Tatsuya and then when I transferred I

passed him off to elder Judd and he took care of him afterwards.
 I am
so glad that he continued to show love and support to Tatsuya after I
left. I love these people so much. Elder Judd is now an assistant by
the way so he came back to see the baptism as well.

It happened!!!!  The day I have been waiting for my whole life finally
came.  I got to go to Matsudo this week and see the baptism of my best
friend, Tatsuya.  Oh my goodness I can't tell you how happy I was.
First off let me just tell you how the day went.  It is a miracle that
I was able to go to the baptism.  Well first off, I heard the alarm go
off and I got up to say my prayer and I thought it was a kind of long
prayer.  Usually my morning prayers aren't that good because I am so
tired I just can't focus.  Well I said my prayer and then went and
looked at my watch and it said 6:50.  I was shocked!!!  Our train left
at 7:28.  I got in the shower and showered as fast as I could and got
ready in my suit and everything by 7:15.  Luckily my companion was
also going fast.  We biked to the train station and just barely made
the train.  Well funny story, we got on the wrong train.  There are
two stations near our house and we went to the wrong one.  I had no
idea what I was doing because it was my first week there.  Well we
were heading down the rail and I started talking to some guy and asked
him if this train could get us to Matsudo.  If it weren't for him, I
wouldn't have made it to the baptism.  After awhile and looking up
different routes on how to get to Matsudo we found out a way to get
there.  We then started talking about religion and he seemed to have a
lot of interest.  However he lived in Tokyo so I couldn't teach him.
But it was fun talking with that man.  We then made it to Matsudo with
5 minutes to spare before the meeting started.  I walked in and there
was Masuda and Tatsuya sitting on the stand dressed in white.  I was
so happy to see them.  I ran up there and Tatsuya recognized me and
ran up and gave me a hug and said, "My American Friend, Elder
Unsworth!" I was so happy to see him.  I then walked over and gave
Brother Masuda a hug and I felt like I was coming home to my family.
I then told them that we needed some pictures and we went out in the
hall and took some pictures.  It was so cool.  Seeing my two best
friends dressed in white was what every missionary wants to see. My
dream of seeing a baptism came true.  The ordinance was very reverent
and really good.  I felt the spirit so much and it really touched my
heart.  All I could think about was the doctrine and covenants
scriptures that says, "How great shall be your joy if you bring save
it be one soul unto me."  Tatsuya is my one soul. I feel like we have
been friends since the beginning and we have always known each other.
I wish he had a Facebook so then we could talk back and forth but he
still needs to make one.  The rest of the meeting was really good.
Tatsuya also asked if I would go in the confirmation circle with him.
I did and that was so specail.  To confirm someone a member of the
church and bestow the Holy Ghost on him for all of Eternity is such a
special feeling.  I loved it so much.  I didn't say the words, I just
laid my hands on his head.  But I felt as if my spirit was talking
with his spirit.  It was defiantly an experience I will never forget
in my life.  I finally got the baptism I have been waiting for.  It
was also funny.  So many people were congratulating me for finding him
and teaching him and I didn't really care about that.  I always told
them that it wasn't about me it was about his commitment to follow
Jesus Christ.  They always had a big smile on their face after that.
But really, I felt so much love for Tatsuya and Masuda that day, I can
only imagine what the savior feels for them and how proud he is of
them.  I love this church and this work so much, it has changed my
life!
This week has simply been amazing.  I am so full of the Spirit.
Seeing the baptism changed my mission so much.  I want to go out and
find more people and teach them.  I am so blessed that I was able to
find Tatsuya and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.  I remember
when I found him it was kind of an accident.  We were going to one
place but it didn't really work out so we went back home and then ran
into him.  I know that the Holy Ghost told us to go to that first
place because he knew we would run into Tatsuya.  I love this church
so much and it has changed my life but also the people around me lives
as well.
Oh I guess I should tell you a bit about my new companion!  HIs name
is Elder Porter and he is from Cedar Hills Utah! He is actually my
fist Utah companion!  Crazy right?  Actually in my old area there was
a sister there named Sister Parker and she is from West Valley Utah!
It was so crazy, small world huh?  But Elder Porter likes to sing,
play football and basketball, and he is hilarious.  I love being with
him and we are seeing so many miracles in Narita!  We are finding new
people and inviting everyone to come to church on Sunday's! :) We also
ate the biggest ice cream Sunday of my life.  It was the size of a
football if not bigger!  It was sooooo good!  When it is like 100
degrees outside, you need a Sunday.  I love Narita and I am happy to
be serving here! :)
I love you all and I hope you have an amazing week! Thank you for all
your wonderful prayers and support.  I hope you check out my blog this
week and see the new baptism photos in it!  There are a lot of cool
photos coming your way so go look for them! :) I love you and I will
talk to you next week! :)
