First Thanksgiving in Japan
November 29, 2015

A ward member made a very good Thanksgiving dinner.  Everyone got stuffed. What wonderful ward members Nic has met.
Oh yea! Pumpkin Pie.

Pumpkin Pie.  A touch of home.
What kind of pie do you have?
I just can't figure this pie out!

Four happy missionaries.

One ward member served with Elder Gandy, who would have thought it?

Man this week has been full of so many miracles and fun things!  I
cant believe it is already P-Day!!!  I will share with you three
miracles that I liked this week!
One of the biggest miracles that we had was we had a lesson with
someone named Mori San.  He is our progressing investigator and this
is our second time meeting him.  Usually people dont meet us a second
time so this was really good!  We were teaching him the Plan of
Salvation and we were lucky enough to have a member present with us.
We need to work on the lesson a bit because there were a couple words
that we didnt knkow and it was really hard to teach.  But when we
would have slip ups or we didnt know how to explain something we would
use our member to help us teach.  It is great to have someone there
who knows Japanese fluently and also knows the gospel and can teach
about it.  Actually, haha something funny happened during the lesson.
We got to the spirit world and we didnt really know how to teach it so
we had our member present teach it.  So he was teaching it perfectly
except in the middle of it he said, "If you are bad you go to spirit
prison and you dont get resurrected"  We were like, woooaaahhhh!  Okay
thats not correct.  We corrected him and told him everyone gets
resurrected and he was like "Really?"  It was kind of funny.  I guess
you really have to watch out for what others teach each other. hahaha
Besides that little slip up, it was a really good lesson and we
committed Mori to come to church and to read from the Book of Mormon.
He said he will do both! :)  We were so excited to have him come to
Church.
This brings me to my next part of the miracles, on Sunday Mori
actually came to church!  It was great!  I sat next to him and he
seemed to really like church.  He was singing the hymns and paying
attention the whole time.  Today we actually had the primary program
so there was a lot of doctrine taught today.  It was really good for
Mori san.  He didnt stay for all the classes but I think he really
liked Sacrament meeting.  When we meet with him again this week, we
are going to follow up with him and see how he liked church.  When we
talked with him after sacrament meeting, he said he really liked it
but he left before we could talk more about it.  He came at the best
time because so much church doctrine was taught and it was taught very
simply.  I cant wait to talk to him about it this week.  He is
progressing very well and I think that he will be our Christmas
miracle.  I am so excited to work with him more this week.
The next miracle that happened was actually really fun.  We had a zone
blitz in Kasukabe.  A blitz is when everyone in your zone comes to
your area and they all work in your area for about 2-3 hours.  They
mostly do finding.  It is a great opportunity to find new
investigators.  It is so much fun.  You also get a new Elder to work
with, so that is fun!  I loved it because I went around with another
Elder who was the same transfer as me.  We talked to people in English
and they actually talked back to us!  It was great.  If they didnt
know English we would kick into Japanese mode.  We talked to a lot of
people and we met a lot of new people.  We also set up some
appointments with people who we found.  I am really excited to see if
we get any calls this week.  We handed out a lot of Book of Mormons as
well.  So far we have one guy who seems really interested and that is
awesome!  I love being able to work with other Missionaries and I love
finding new people to talk to.  It was a very successful Blitz.
My mom should be updating my blog this week with all my photos that I
have been sending to her so make sure you go check it out!  I am not
going to lie....  The pictures are pretty great! :)  Make sure to be
friends with my mom on Facebook and check out my blog!!!  The blog is
nics.mission.blogspot.com  If you have any questions send my mom a
message on Facebook and she will answer it for you! Let me know how
you are doing!  I hope you all are having an amazing week and I hope
that this next week goes just swell for you!  I am so grateful for all
my friends and family who love and support me on my Mission.  It was
hard not to be home for Thanksgiving but I have felt so much love from
the Kasukabe ward members that I didnt have any homesickness or
anything like that.  I am so blessed to be in such an amazing ward!  I
love it here!  I love you all and cant wait to here from you!  It is
getting close to the Christmas season so make sure you share the true
meaning of Christmas with everyone and remember our Savior!  Share the
true meaning of Christmas with a friend and tell them why you love
christmas or what christmas means to you!  Thank you all again for all
your love and support!  I love you all so much!  Take care and talk to
you next week! :)
