Miracles in Togane

May 16, 2016
We had dinner with the Tauras family.
What a wonderful family.
Pants we bought.
 They are so comfortable.
This guy showed us some magic.
It was really fun.
He is our English student.

Good-bye to wonderful roommates.

Good-bye to Elder Munro

Good-bye to Elder Gibson

This was the tram we came in on.
It's a monorail and you dangle from

the rail way cool!!!  But not the fastest!

 Zoo P-Day

I am so excited to FINALLY be going to the zoo!

We couldn't find an elephant to lift me up, but we found these animals
we could touch!!! Haha.
I was going to ride it and have Elder Lin take
a picture of me! :)

Maybe I can teach these "kids" the gospel!

Alright, lesson number one....
I don't think they are listening!

I found something to ride!!!

Just one of the family!  I loved the red pandas.
Elder Lin's impersonation of a red panda.
Isn't he cute!

Elder Apeman.
Awe! I finally found an elephant!

Glad I am not their companion.
These two were having a great fight.

Hello family and friends!!!
Man things in Togane are going along
amazingly!  I love it down here so much and I love seeing the miracles
all around me.  This week I have been working really hard and I think
we have been getting an average of about two lessons a day.  Some days
this week we had three lessons in a day!  The Lord really is blessing
us for our hard work and it is starting to pay off.  I would like to
share one experience of an amazing miracle I saw this week.
Thursday was our miracle day.  So, the Chiba zone is doing a 40 day
fast.  Thursday was our day to do the fasting.  Everyday someone fasts
until the 40 days are up.  We thought it would be easy because it was
weekly planning day, so we would be inside for most of the fasting.
Well that made it kind of hard because of all the food around us.
Haha. But we did our study and then did our weekly planning.  It was
really good and we were able to make some good goals and talk about
all the needs of our investigators and our new investigators.  Well
during weekly planning a thought came into our minds that said, "we
need a baptism". Elder Lin and I thought for a bit about who could be
our next baptism and we came up with Ishino.  He was progressing very
well and he loved the lessons.  We tried to set a baptismal date with
him during our second lesson with him but he was kind of against it.
He wanted to learn more before he could accept.  Well we thought that
now was the time.  So we thought about a date and we came up with May
29th.  We went to his lesson and taught about baptism and receiving
the gift of the Holy Ghost.  We extended the baptismal invitation and
he accepted it!  He said he thinks he is ready for baptism and that he
wants to follow Jesus Christ!  Brother Oowana was also there and he
helped clarify some things and got him pumped and ready for baptism.
It was an amazing experience.  The spirit was so strong and the lesson
went great.  Another cool thing about his lesson was we talked a bit
about his wife.  We asked him if she had any interest and he told us
he wants her to learn as well.  He said he might bring her to church
this week and have her sit in on some of our lessons!  It was a way
cool miracle.  The power of fasting is real and because of it, we are
going to see a baptism this transfer!  I am so excited for Brother
Ishino and all the wonderful faith he is giving to the Savior! :).
After that lesson we were so pumped we went home and got ready for our
next lesson.  This lesson was with an investigator that has been an
investigator for about 10 months but has never been to church.  He
keeps the commandments and he prays every night but he wouldn't come
to church for some reason.  We had a lesson with him and out of no
where he said, "I think I want to go to church now". Elder Lin and I
looked at each other and we had the biggest smiles on our faces!  We
were shocked that Fang said that and that he was willing to come to
church finally.  We left the lesson feeling amazing and full off the
Spirit.  The power of fasting really is powerful and it will help you
with anything, especially your investigators.  We then had one more
lesson planned with an investigator that night.  It was for a Family
Home Evening lesson.  He was actually the only one who showed up so we
played some ping pong with him and then was getting ready for our
lesson when he said he had to go because his neighbor needed help with
something.  We asked if we could share a quick message with him but he
denied it and went home.  That was a bit of a bummer because we were
going to talk a bit about baptism but it is okay. We can have it
another day! :)  I just still can't believe how many cool miracles we
saw that day.  My testimony of fasting has increased so much, I know
now that it works and that it is for the benefit of other people.  I
have come to notice that when I try to serve other people, or pray for
other people and forget about myself, that is when the Lord blesses
me.  That is when I see miracles and when the lives of others are
changed but at the same time, my own life is changed.
I am loving the time in Togane so much!   I am starting to see the
work pay off and I am starting to see miracles happen.  Ever since
that day, Elder Lin and I have been pushing to have lessons with our
investigators and all of our lessons so far have been really good.  We
are getting about three lessons every other day and in between that
about two lessons a day.  The Lord defiantly had a hand in this
progress, there is no way that we could go from one lesson every other
day to two lessons every day!  I love it.  I know that He lives and
that he loves us.  That is the message that I am here to share.  I
know that Jesus Christ lives and that he loves and blesses us.  He is
our Savior and Redeemer and our best friend.  I love him and he means
everything to me.  I love this church from the bottom of my heart and
I know that it is the only true church on this earth today.  It is His
church, it is the Church of Jesus Christ.  I love sharing that message
with everyone around me and I love seeing the Spirit touch their
lives.  This Gospel is amazing and it changes lives, it has changed
mine.
I am looking forward to this transfer and seeing all the wonderful
miracles in store.  This church is a church of miracles.  I love this
church so much.
I love you all and I love hearing from you.  Don't forget to visit my
blog at http://nicsmission.blogspot.com !  It has my weekly email on
it but it also has some fun pictures as well!  I hope you take some
time to go and look at it! :)
I hope you have a wonderful week and for those of you who are
finishing up school, work hard, enjoy it, and look forward to an
amazing summer!  For those of you who still have to work, find some
time for a vacation and go have some fun! :)
I love you all and hope to hear from you soon! :)  Take care  and talk

Happy Mother's Day

May 8, 2016
This is our last District Meeting!

This is our Family Home Evening night.
We played ping pong.
The
Marvel guy is a Chinese investigator.
His name is Pan Pan, we just

got him because the other elders are leaving.

This is our Farwell party for Sister Godfresson.
She is heading home
this week.
This Ward is so nice, they treat the missionaries very
well.
I am excited to stay here for another transfer! :)

Here is the Yamashita conference picture.
 I
am right behind President Nagano.

Here is my favorite thing in the whole world.

Hello everyone and Happy Mother's Day!!!!!! :)

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mothers out there, especially
my mother.  I love her so much and she has been my number one ever
since I was little.  She is amazing and I love her so much! :)
Well this week I got my transfer calls and lucky me, they are closing
the Togane area.  I must be a plague or something.  The good thing is,
they are not closing my area, they are closing the other Elders area.
So a four man will now be changed to a two man.  Two mans get kind of
lonely but I know with Elder Lin, we will make it fun.  I hope that
with the summer blitz thought that some areas will open back up.  I
was really sad when they got their call to leave, but I know that is
what needs to happen.  Elder Gibson and Elder Munro are two of my
greatest friends and I am going to miss them so much.
As for this week, we did a lot of finding.  This week was Golden Week
which means everyone gets off of work and they don't have to go for a
whole week.  The problem with that is there is nothing fun to do in
Togane except look at rice fields.  So naturally all the people
traveled to Tokyo for the weekend.  As we did our finding, we didn't
really have anyone to talk to this whole week.  It was a rough week.
But we were able to teach a new investigator.  His name is Ishino and
he has a lot of interest.  He is about 62 years old but his memory is
really good with Gospel related things..  We taught him the whole Plan
of Salvation on Sunday and he remembered all of it.  He even had him
teach it back to us to make sure he understood it and he did
perfectly.  He is an amazing guy.  We tried to set a baptismal day
with him but he didn't accept it.  So we set a soft date with him
meaning that when he comes to find that this church is true, he will
be baptized.  He is an amazing investigator!  Also because the other
Elders are leaving this area, that means we are going to get all of
their investigators.  So we should be teaching at least one lesson a
day from here on out! :)
Another fun thing that happened this week was we had a conference with
a member of the Seventy.  His name is Elder Yamashita and he is also
the area's First councilor of the North Asian areas.  He is way cool
and his English is amazing.  My favorite part of his conference was
how often he bore his testimony.  I think we forget sometimes how
powerful our testimonies can be.  His testimony really touched me and
made me want to be better. He is an amazing person and I loved
listening to him.  He really wants the mission working on obedience
and becoming better missionaries.  It was a really good conference and
I learned a lot.
But my favorite part of this week was being able to see my wonderful
family and some friends! :)  I have missed them so much!  Skyping home
is one of my favorite things to do because it always gives me a really
good feeling in side and I love being able to see the people who love
and support me.  They are all amazing and they mean so much to me.
Happy Mothers Day mom!  I hope today was special for you and I hope
you have an amazing week! :)  Being able to talk to you today made me
whole year. You always bring a smile to my face and you fill me full
of joy.  You are the best mom anyone could ask for.  Thank you for
everything! :) I love you!!!!
Well that is all for this week.  I am looking forward to working with
Elder Lin this coming transfer and I know we are going to see some
amazing miracles in Togane.  Thank you all for your love and support.
It came to my attention that some of you don't know the URL for my
blog so I am going to post it on this letter.  Go and see the
wonderful pictures of me and tell my mom how wonderful she is! :)

I love you all so much! :) I hope you have a wonderful week and I hope
to hear from you soon!  Let me know what is going on back in the
hometown or what is going on in your life, I would love to know.  I
love you and I will talk to you next week! :)

Meet the Noda family

This is the Noda family.
The guy with the hat is the friend who might

have interest in the church.
Really nice family, I loved being there!

:)

Peace from Togane!

Can you believe it is already May?  I can't!  It feels like April just

started last week.  I am loving it so much here that the time is just
flying by.  Next week is transfer calls and I am pretty nervous about
what is going to happen.  I am also way excited to see what happens,
it is going to be a fun P-day next week! :)
So let's see, what is something special that happened this week.  We
had a couple of cool things happen this week. We visited a lot of
members, had an amazing district meeting, had spectacular lessons, had
a way fun sports day, and confirmed someone a member of the church.
So I guess I will talk a little about each one of these things!
Members in Togane are amazing.  They love the missionaries and they
will help us with anything.  In fact, Sunday we had a dinner
appointment with a member and they invited a friend over.  We talked
with her son and he is way cool.  We became really good friends and
then started inviting him to come to things.  He says he wants to come
to basketball, play ping pong with us, and just hung out with us.  He
told us we are really cool people and he might even have some interest
in the church.   This was music to our ears.  We are so excited to
meet with this man and build up our relationship even more.  I love
the members of this Ward, they give us amazing referrals! :)
The district meeting we had was really good.  I had a training on
Christ like attributes and I think it went really well.  I think when
it comes down to training, it is way more beneficial for the person
giving then the people receiving it.  Because the person has to do all
the research and they have to put forth the effort to make the
training good. Also every time I give a training I feel the spirit so
much.  I feel and know that this church is true and that our Savior
Jesus Christ loves us.  I got to spend 15 minutes talking about the
Savior and how we can become like him.  I testified of him and I
talked about what he did.  The sprit was just so strong and there was
nothing like it.  I love feeling the spirit and I know that we all can
feel it when we share our testimonies of the Savior with others.
Our lessons this week went really well.  We taught people who Joseph
Smith was and why he is important.  We showed the restoration video
and taught about baptism.  It was a good week for teaching.  We had
one baptismal date with an investigator.  He wanted to get baptized as
soon as possible, but when he told his parents about it there were
against it.  So he had to drop us.  That was probably the bummer of
this week.  But that is okay because we found many new investigators
and we are really excited to begin teaching them.  I love teaching
lessons though because it is the time when you tell people about
something they have never heard before.  You make them think about new
things that can change their life and you let them feel the Holy
Ghost.  It is an amazing experience and I love doing it! :)
Sports day was a day where we played sports all day long.  It was so
much fun.  I haven't had that much exercise in a long time.  I got to
talk with a lot of friends, missionaries, members, investigators, and
everyone else under the sun.  Speaking about the sun, everyone forgot
to wear sun screen.  Some people looked like lobsters and now when
they take their sunglasses off, they look like raccoons!  My companion
included! Haha it was a really fun day!  I loved being under the sun
and enjoying the wonderful warm weather.
The cool part of this week was being able to confirm someone into the
church.  I didn't get to do it, it was Elder Lin.  We actually were in
another persons area because the confirmation had to be done in
Chinese because the member was Chinese.  Well it was still fun going
to a confirmation meeting and feeling the spirit in the room.  I loved
being there.  I have been in a lot of lessons that are Chinese but
hearing a blessing in Chinese is pretty cool.  Especially because I
can now pick out a couple of words.  I don't think I will learn how to
speak Chinese on my mission, but I am defiantly starting to understand
it a bit.  It is crazy!  There are so many cool miracles and blessings
from serving a mission! :)
This week was a really good week.  I feel like we spent all our time
effectively and we helped a lot of people.  We found new people to
teach and I feel like we are finally getting new investigators.  I
know that everyone we talk to will not become an investigator, but we
are starting to see some improvements in old Togane.  I love this
mission so much and I love serving the people around me.  I am so
blessed to be in Japan where the people are so nice and they show so
much love to me.  I love it here.  I am also blessed to have an
amazing family who loves and supports me.  I love them so much and I
love my friends too.  You all are amazing and I love hearing from you.
I am excited to kill this next week in Togane.  I am going to work
hard and make this last week of this transfer worth it!  I love the
work and I love seeing the blessings that come from it.  I love you
all too! :)
Well that's it for this week.  I hope you all are doing well and that
you are enjoying life.  For those of you in school there is only four
more weeks left!  That is so crazy!  I feel like I am still in high
school sometimes.  It feels just like yesterday I was walking down the
halls of Hunter High, or performing on the stage, or wearing my
graduation robe.  I miss high school so much, but I know that it will
always be a special memory in my heart.  My mission is my new memory
and I am currently living it, so make it last right?  I love it here!
:)
I love you all and I will talk to you again next week!  Till then,

Elder Unsworth
